India is witnessing an unprecedented rise in
entrepreneurship, women-led businesses and the creator economy. At the same
time, professionals are competing not just on talent, but on visibility,
credibility and executive presence. In this evolving landscape, personal
branding has become a business strategy rather than a lifestyle choice.
Luxury fashion expert and image consultant Disha Vadgama,
who has spent over a decade working across luxury fashion, personal styling and
image consulting, believes the definition of fashion itself has undergone a
dramatic transformation.
"People spend years building a business and barely any
time building the image that represents it. Your personal brand often enters
the room before you do. Whether you're pitching to investors, meeting clients
or speaking on stage, people decide how they perceive you long before you've
finished your first sentence," says Disha Vadgama.
India is now home to one of the world's fastest-growing
entrepreneurial ecosystems and one of LinkedIn's largest professional
communities. In such an environment, she believes every entrepreneur, founder
and corporate leader needs an authentic and consistent visual identity.
"Your wardrobe is your silent résumé. It tells people
whether you're detail-oriented, confident, disciplined and ready for
leadership. Image isn't superficial—it is strategic."
According to Disha, one of the biggest misconceptions is
that luxury is measured by labels and logos.
"Luxury begins with discernment, not spending. A
perfectly tailored outfit that reflects your personality will always have more
impact than a designer logo worn without confidence."
She believes women entrepreneurs are driving one of the
biggest shifts in professional fashion by embracing authenticity over
convention.
"We're seeing women choose clothes that reflect who
they are rather than who society expects them to be. Confidence is replacing
conformity, and that's the biggest fashion revolution of our generation."
An equally strong advocate of Indian craftsmanship, Disha
believes the country's textile heritage deserves a far bigger place in global
luxury conversations.
"India has centuries of craftsmanship that the world
admires. We don't need to imitate global luxury—we have every opportunity to
define it in our own voice."
She also cautions against confusing trends with identity in
the age of social media.
"Trends are temporary. Reputation isn't. The most
successful professionals aren't remembered because they followed fashion;
they're remembered because they created a signature identity that people
instantly recognised."
For Disha, personal branding extends far beyond clothing. It
encompasses body language, communication, grooming, etiquette and consistency.
"Fashion doesn't create confidence—it reveals it. The
goal is never to become someone else. The goal is to become the most authentic,
confident version of yourself."
As India's professional landscape continues to evolve, Disha
believes image consulting will become as important as leadership coaching and
communication training.
"The future belongs to people whose image, values and
purpose are perfectly aligned. That's where influence begins—and influence has
become the new currency of success."
“My mission is simple—to empower through design, preserve
through craft and inspire through creativity.”

For Disha, design is more than creating something beautiful.
It is a way to honour India’s roots, celebrate the hands of its artisans and
give Indian craftsmanship a contemporary global voice.
Every fabric carries a story. Every silhouette holds an
emotion. And every creation becomes an opportunity to build a legacy that lives
beyond trends.
