Mumbai : The historic and
commercial area of Kalbadevi and Zaveri Bazaar is about to enter a new era.
Following a recent meeting between Financial Expert Bharatkumar Solanki and
engineers from BMC's DP Plan department, it has become clear that this business
heart of Mumbai will soon transform into a globally benchmarked 'Dream
Corridor.' Under this redevelopment plan, the entire area from Kalbadevi Road,
Vitthalwadi Corner, through Cotton Exchange to Shekhmemon Street's Mahajan
Gali, LK Market, Satta Gali, Tel Gali, and Vithoba Lane will take on a new,
modern avatar.
Dream Corridor, A Model of a Foreign City:
This plan envisions the creation of a space that resembles a foreign city. Once
the area is redeveloped, old, dilapidated buildings will be replaced with
skyscrapers, state-of-the-art shopping malls, and lush public spaces. These
buildings will feature air-conditioned shops and high-tech facilities such as
Wi-Fi and amphitheater systems, making the area a competitive international
business hub. Moreover, the commercial centers in this corridor will rival
European cities' malls and street-shopping experiences, providing a modern and
convenient environment for both merchants and customers to shop and conduct
business comfortably.
Commercial and Residential Revolution:
After the redevelopment, not only will commercial activities increase, but
residential life will also undergo a complete transformation. Modern
residential towers will offer all kinds of amenities, such as green gardens,
gyms, community halls, and highly secure buildings. These towers will resemble
residential areas in foreign metropolitan cities, where every facility will be
available.
Modern Traffic and Infrastructure:
A key aspect of the Dream Corridor will be improving the traffic system. Under
this, new and wider roads will be constructed, providing easy routes for local
and external traffic. Addressing parking issues, massive underground and
multi-level parking spaces will also be created, ensuring that traders and
customers face no difficulties.
Economic and Cultural Upliftment:
This corridor won't be limited to just commercial and residential advancements.
Social and cultural centers will also be developed, establishing this area as a
cultural hub. Local community members will have opportunities to participate in
cultural programs and festivals, fostering unity and promoting cultural
heritage within society.
Mumbai’s Global Future: This
'Dream Corridor' will not only become an attraction for the citizens of Mumbai
but also for international tourists and investors. The transformation of the
city's old streets and markets will prepare Mumbai for the future and establish
it as a global business and cultural center. To bring this vision to life, BMC
and the concerned departments are fully committed, and the blueprint for this
plan will be ready soon. Once implemented, this area will represent a new face
of Mumbai, elevating the city's identity to new heights.
