Bengaluru, 22nd August 2026: LuLu
Mall, Lulu Hypermarket and Funtura Bengaluru brought the spirit of
Varamahalakshmi Habba to life this week with a series of festivities that
blended tradition, community participation and shopping, drawing hundreds of
visitors between 17th and 21st August. The celebrations culminated on 19th
August with a live rangoli competition, a felicitation ceremony for winners,
and an evening Kannada Jam Session on 21st August that had families
singing along to beloved Kannada favourites.
The festivities opened with a dedicated Varamahalakshmi Habba mini
market at the mall, where shoppers browsed pooja essentials, festive décor and
traditional finds to prepare for the auspicious occasion. Visitors, many
dressed in traditional silk sarees and festive attire, were seen shopping
together with family through the specially decorated corridors, adorned with
banana leaf borders, marigold garlands and festive signage around the stalls.
A highlight of the week was the large scale rangoli competition held
on the mall's atrium floor, which saw over 126 participants from young girls to
homemakers and senior citizens meticulously sieving coloured powders and hand
crafting intricate floor art. A panel of judges toured the numbered entries
before announcing Winner and Runner-Up titles on stage, with prizes presented
amid confetti to jubilant participants and their families.
Underlining the scale of the celebration, LuLu Hypermarket, LuLu Mall
Bengaluru and Funtura together dedicated significant space to exclusive festive
offers for customers through the week, alongside special festive combos at LuLu
Hypermarket timed to the Varamahalakshmi shopping season.
The celebrations closed on the evening of 21st August with the Kannada
Jam Session, a live music evening that brought together performers for a night
of melody celebrating Kannada culture. Visitors gathered on the atrium floor to
sing along to popular Kannada favourites, turning the mall into a community
stage for the festival's closing hours.
“Varamahalakshmi Habba is one of the most cherished festivals for
Kannadiga families, and it was heartening to see that spirit come alive at LuLu
Mall Bengaluru from the dedication of our rangoli participants to families
shopping together and singing together at the jam session. Bringing LuLu
Hypermarket, LuLu Mall and Funtura together to create space for exclusive
festive offers was our way of making the celebrations a little more rewarding
for our customers, this is part of our continued commitment to celebrate
festivals like these throughout the year and we look forward to bringing many
more such celebrations to Bengaluru” said Mr. Noman Aziz
Khan, Director of Karnataka Region, LuLu Group India.
The Varamahalakshmi Habba celebrations reaffirm LuLu Group's continued
commitment to celebrating local culture and community traditions across its
