Mumbai,
July 2026: Following the remarkable success of Ishqan
De Lekhe, one of the only sleeper hits of the year, Panorama Studios has
significantly expanded its Punjabi film slate by acquiring the worldwide
theatrical distribution rights for three big Punjabi films slated for release
in 2026 — Argentina, Thaapi and Ranjheya.
The
acquisitions include three highly anticipated Punjabi films featuring some of
the industry's most celebrated stars—Argentina, starring Ammy Virk
and Sargun Mehta; Thaapi, starring Neeru Bajwa and Sunny Singh; and Ranjheya,
featuring Harrdy Sandhu and Simrat Kaur. Together, these films represent a
diverse and exciting slate that underscores Panorama Studios' commitment to
backing strong content and marquee talent in Punjabi cinema.
Since
joining Panorama Studios earlier this year, Anshu Kapoor has been
spearheading the company's efforts to deepen its presence in Punjab and expand
its regional cinema portfolio. Under this strategic vision, Panorama Studios is
actively building a robust Punjabi slate encompassing diverse stories, marquee
talent and wide audience appeal.
In
addition to these newly acquired titles, Panorama Studios' upcoming Punjabi
releases include Kankaan De Ole, scheduled to release on 31st July and 70
Syaal, an emotional horror-folklore film based in Punjab, which is slated
for release in the coming months.
Kumar
Mangat Pathak, Chairman, Panorama Studios, said, "Punjabi
cinema today enjoys a strong cultural connect not only within India but also
across international markets where Punjabi-speaking audiences are significant.
At Panorama Studios, we have always believed in the power of regional
storytelling, and the success of Ishqan De Lekhe has further strengthened our
conviction. With Argentina, Thaapi and Ranjheya, we are partnering with films
that combine compelling narratives with some of the most loved stars of Punjabi
cinema. We remain committed to supporting quality content and expanding the
reach of Punjabi films to audiences worldwide."
Murlidhar
Chhatwani, CEO – Distribution & Syndication, Panorama Studios,
said: "These acquisitions of Argentina, Thaapi and Ranjheya are an
important step in our strategy to build a strong and consistent Punjabi film
slate. We see tremendous growth potential in the market, both domestically and
internationally. Our focus is on identifying films with strong theatrical
appeal and ensuring they receive the scale of release and marketing support
they deserve. With an exciting mix of established talent, engaging stories and
upcoming releases, we are confident that our Punjabi slate will continue to
create value for audiences, filmmakers, exhibition partners and all
stakeholders across the content ecosystem."
“Alongside
the strength of Punjabi theatrical rights, the digital market is also
witnessing remarkable growth, with regional OTT platforms creating new
economics for digital rights. At the same time, Punjabi music has evolved into
a global phenomenon, significantly enhancing the value of audio rights and
opening up additional revenue opportunities for content owners.” Adds
Murlidhar.
Anshu
Kapoor, Head - Punjabi Production & Acquisition, Panorama Studios, said, "Punjabi
cinema is going through a rediscovery phase, with audiences seeking fresh
stories to explore new genres. Since joining Panorama Studios, my focus has
been on building meaningful relationships with producers, filmmakers and talent
across the industry and creating a strong pipeline of films that can travel
beyond traditional markets. Argentina, Thaapi and Ranjheya are excellent
examples of the scale, diversity and quality we want to champion. Along with
Kankaan De Ole and 70 Syaal, these films reflect our long-term commitment to
strengthening Panorama's presence in Punjab and taking Punjabi cinema to newer
audiences across the globe."
